On Foot Around Berlin
66-Seen-Wanderweg long-distance hiking trail: Brandenburg's Most Beautiful Loop Trail
416 km
17 individual stages (approx. 20–30 km)
Circular Route Starting and Ending in Potsdam
The 66-Seen-Wanderweg long-distance hiking trail is one of the most varied lowland hiking trails in Germany. It circles Berlin once in 17 easily accessible stages and connects various tourist regions in Brandenburg.
You’ll hike along many lakes, through vast forests and unspoiled moorlands, passing historic sites and cultural landmarks. Each stage offers a new scenic backdrop: from dense beech forests to gentle river floodplains and open heathlands. The diverse facets of nature accompany you on every route, while well-marked trails and rest areas make for a pleasant hiking experience.
The contrast between the water and forest landscapes is particularly impressive. At times you’ll follow a peaceful lakeside path; at others, you’ll climb gently uphill to take in the sweeping view of the landscape from a hilltop. Along the route, you’ll discover numerous havens for rare animal species—with a little luck, you might spot herons on the lakeshore or hear the call of a crane above the treetops. Old manor houses, small village churches, and traditional craft workshops are fascinating points of interest along this nature-rich route. And so every stage is an experience in its own right.
